Premieres, best documentaries of the season and master retrospectives, accompanied by debates and additional events.

The great novelty of the Festival will be a competition for animation films.

Films and festival sections of the 6th PLANETE DOC REVIEW FILM FESTIVAL

In two weeks' time, on 8 May, opens the most important documentary film festival in Poland, five polish films will compete in the main festival cometitions. Four World premiers will be held during the Planete Doc Review Film Festival. All foreign films running for best film in the individual categories will be screened as polish premiers.

The PLANETE DOC REVIEW Film Festival will take place from 8 to 17 May at Kinoteka Theatre in Warsaw and on 8-10 May in as many as 21 theatres in 19 other cities as a part of the DIGITAL PLANET DOC REVIEW WEEKEND plus via the iplex.pl online cinema, where festival goers will have a chance to see selected festival titles once again.

Masterclass

Planete Doc Review invites everyone to take part in the masterclass. This year's Planete Doc Review festival will present two reviews of Documentary Masters: Nikolaus Geyrhalter and Rich Minnnick.
The masterclass of Nikolaus Geyrhalter will take place on 10 May 2009 at 02.00 p.m., in Kinoteka.

Millennium Award
 

17 full length films will compete for the MILLENNIUM Prize – The Grand Prix of the Festival and an 8,000 Euro prize.
 Among the films in contention we find such globally recognised award-winning titles as Stranded, directed by Gonzalo Arijon; Encounters at the End of the World, directed by Werner Herzog; Crazy Love, directed by Dan Klores and Darfur Now! directed by Ted Braun – a film featuring Don Cheadle and George Clooney no less. In the main competition we will also see Useless – a new documentary by Jia Zhang-Ke from China, who received a Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for his film Still Life. Also in main competition, Polish cinema will be represented by Yodok Stores, a new film by Andrzej Fidyk. This long-awaited Norwegian-Polish production was created over several years and tells the story of  ex-prisoners from concentration camps in North Korea. The Grand Prix PLANETE DOC REVIEW, the Millennium Award, will be awarded by an International Jury chaired by Polish producer and director, Krzysztof Kopczynski.

6th Planete Doc Review
 

6th PLANETE DOC REVIEW 2009 FILM FESTIVAL  8-17 MAY, IN WARSAW AND…ACROSS POLAND!

This year’s 6th PLANETE DOC REVIEW film festival (8-17 May) is only two months away!

The festival’s programme will consist of acclaimed and awarded foreign films and premieres of Polish titles. This year we have got in store new film competitions and a screenings of animated documentaries. Last year the festival boasted a turnout of 25,000 viewers. The event was recognised by the Warsaw editorial office of Poland's top daily Gazeta Wyborcza and was awarded the WDECHY prize for Warsaw's best culture event of 2008.

In 2009, for the first time ever the festival will be held in 14 cities at the same time! Through our collaboration with the Arthouse Cinemas Network and the web-based iplex.pl cinema documentary films will reach cinemas outside of Warsaw. This innovative project will let cinema goers across the entire country watch 10 of the festival films at the same time as they will be screened in Warsaw and to  take part in the largest forum of documentary cinema in Poland. The PLANETE DOC DIGITAL WEEKEND will be held in most cinemas from the network on 8 to 10 May. For more information on the project, check back on the website soon.
