PLANETE DOC REVIEW festival, the third most popular film event dedicated to documentary filmmaking in Europe, will be held in Warsaw for the seventh time. Last year's festival had attracted 25000 viewers and won the Polish Film Institute prize as Poland's most important international film event of the year.

This year's edition of the festival looks extremely promising. Selection of the best documentaries produced in the past year worldwide will contend for the MILLENIUM AWARD and the 8000 Euro, among them Erik Gandini's „Videocracy” (premiere at the IFF in Venice, awards at the IFF Toronto and IFF Sheffield), Mads Brugger's „Red Chapel” (World Cinema Award, Sundance 2010), Lixin Fan's ”Last Train Home” (Grand Prix, IDFA Amsterdam 2009) and Oscar-nominated „The Cove” by Louie Psihoyos. This year the animation competition will be he held for the first time. All films in the competitions are premiering on Polish screens. Film producers and Worldsales have chosen the festival as the best launching pad in Poland. 

Program of Masterclass will be announced in March. 

Film selection process ends up on February 25th. A detailed program will be announced in the beginning of April. 

Following last year's success, the festival will again be held simultaneously in 15 different cities between May 7th and 9th. 9 films, as well as the events in Warsaw, will be streamed through the Internet and broadcast directly to the screens of 20 cinemas in other cities. Film screenings will be held at the same time and on the same day throughout Poland. This innovative project will allow viewers around the country to choose the best film of the festival and to participate in the biggest celebration of documentary films in the country as part of the WEEKEND WITH DIGITITAL PLANETE DOC. 

PLANETE DOC program will include a hundred films presented in the following sections:

Political Science, Fetish and Culture, Intimate Histories, Future Doc-Shock, Heroes among Us, Cinema Magic, Climate for Change    

Aside from the main competition for the Millennium award, festival awards also include:

• MAGIC HOUR award for films under 70 minutes;
• AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL award – PLANETE DOC REVIEW is the only film festival in Poland at which Amnesty International awards its own prize;
• GREEN WARSAW AWARD – for the best film on environmental issues;
• Award for the best animated film;
• Ecumenical Jury Award;
• Audience Award funded by PLANETE TV channel  

About 70 of the screened films will be sold to various TV channels in Poland, around 10 of them will appear in cinema distribution and on DVD. In this respect PLANETE DOC REVIEW remains the most effective film festival in Poland.

Na program filmowy festiwalu PLANETE DOC złoży się około sto filmów przedstawianych w następujących sekcjach: Nauki polityczne, Fetysze i kultura, Historie intymne, Future shock, Bohaterzy są wśród nas, Magia kina, Klimat na zmiany.
